- "Godalming's first fire station (The Engine House) was built in 1836 [sic] and backed onto the old Gasworks at the junction of Catteshall Lane and Wharf Street. It was replaced in 1904 by the Queen St. Station and was then used for storage of gas appliances. The police station now stands on the site."
